About John Reardon
John is the CEO and Senior Principal Engineer of The Process Group, LLC. John is a Professional Engineer in California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri with over 27 years of experience in syngas generation (gasification), gas cleanup and conditioning; acid gas treating; absorption units and stripping columns; adsorption; solids drying; and custom equipment design including baghouses, pressurized lock hoppers, conveyors, fluidized bed reactors, and custom heat transfer systems. John is the author of two awarded US patents (8,580,019; 6,497,856), several publications, and one book chapter.

About Alex Shaffer
Alex is the President and Principal Engineer of The Process Group, LLC and is a Professional Engineer in Missouri, Iowa, Georgia, and Alabama with 14 years of experience in process engineering (B.E. Chemical Engineering, Youngstown State University, Ohio). Alex is a highly experienced process modeler, especially adept on the Aspen platform, and has 6 years of full-time experience modeling and designing carbon capture systems. Alex is also particularly skillful in sanitary design and executing design from a blank page, laboratory setting through commissioning closeout, having led equipment functional testing for multiple projects in both carbon capture and wet petfood. Alex also serves Clients in the chemical, food/beverage, and pharmaceutical industries and is an experienced manager, leading financial activities for The Process Group, LLC as Treasurer.

Jason is the Vice President of Strategy and a Principal Engineer of The Process Group, LLC. Jason is a Professional Engineer in Texas and Illinois with 19 years of experience in process engineering, project management and consulting operations. Jason earned his BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri and his MBA from the University of North Carolina. His technical experience specialized in process safety, including relief system design, flare system design, PSM and RMP program development and compliance auditing, LOPA, HAZOP, QRA, facility siting, SIS design and verification, depressurizing system design, and action item development and resolution. Jason is a voting member of ASME code committees for overpressure protection.

Mark’s expertise spans multiple industries, including petroleum refining, food and beverage, chemicals manufacturing, and explosives manufacturing. Mark has experience with establishing, updating, and maintaining facility PSM requirements including the development of guidelines for the handling of Highly Hazardous Materials (HHMs). Mark has led process development from bench scale to production scale on multiple projects, including the development of PFDs, material and energy balance, and P&IDs. As a lead process engineer, Mark’s design and installation experience includes new waste treatment systems, solvent recovery processes, biofuel plants, phosphorus mine and mine facilities, greenhouse climate systems, heater conversions to low-NOx burners and Selective Catalytic Reduction Units (SCR) for major refineries.
